Personally I don't consider people to be true pokemon trainers if they didn't play pokemon blue or red on release day.
Grats. Your opinion doesn't matter on this "issue" but you're entilted to it.
>>31593288
actually..... I feel the same
I liked how more feral the pokemon looked in gen1
>>31593288
Personally I don't consider people that only played red and blue as kids as "real pokemon fans"
>>31593288
that's a no true scotsman logical fallacy but it also doesn't affect me so i guess i don't care
>>31593288
That's dumb. I didn't even play it on release day. A few days later maybe.
OP image made me nostalgia so hard I almost passed out. The years bro.
I'm replaying Silver at the moment since this is a Gen 1-2 discussion. Thoughts on my party so far?
Electabuzz
Lugia
Dragonair
Gloom
Houndoom
Weezing
Haven't fought any of the gyms yet in Kanto but I'm just pissing about going to locations so I can fly there without a problem.
Release day? That's a pretty tough marker to have met...
Did anyone ever use Raticate or bother catching a Ratata for that matter? Always ones I avoided since they looked shit and unappealing.

You didn't start your adventure when the developers and the game company decided you should have started your adventure. You should have bought it on release day and become a true pokemon trainer.
>>31593288
I was born around release date, I can never be a true Pokemon fan?
>>31593672
I'm using one right now on my virtual console blue actually, because I too realised that I never did in all those years.
Thank goodness human beings are entitled to have stupid opinions no op?
>>31593288
Excuse for not living in a country that released things on the spot back then and being poor as a child.
But by your logic here >>31593675 you aren't a true fan either since you didn't play either Red or Green back in 1996.
>>31593672
Only once back in the day.
Was pleasantly surprised by the utility it had in its tm learnset
That's nice.
>>31593672
I guess the only pokemon that I didn't used in gen I is Jynx.
>>31593288
Well sorry that my parents couldn't fucking afford a Gameboy or thought it was an unnecessary waste idk probably just poor tho and that I was able to finally to play until they got me a GBA
>>31593288
same.
>>31593288
Why such an arbitrary metric, OP?
>>31593288
>>31594326
>Every trainer has to be born before the games were released to be a true trainer!
Reminder that 18-20 year olds today weren't even born when the games were released in Japan. Let that sink in.
I wasn't even alive on release day
>>31593288
>pokemon blue
october 15 1996
>or red
february 27 1996
>>31593446
This. They all looked like they were going to kick your ass. I miss it so much.
>>31593288
You mean Pokemon Red or Green right? Otherwise you never started at the beginning
>>31593288
Genwunner fags of all people think they have the right to determine who is or isn't a true Pokemon trainer
>>31593288
True, you shouldn't talk about other gens if you didn't play them when they were the hottest shit.
>>31593288
Many people here were born after 1996.
>tfw people born in 1996 are between 20 and 21 y/o this year
>>31593288
>Not playing the Japan version on its release day
Sorry bub, you're not a true Pokemon trainer either.
>>31593288
>he didn't import Red and Green on release day
>>31593456
This is more valid of an opinion.
The brand has expanded so much since the 90s and constantly dragging along generation 1 nostalgia is hurting the franchise.
If you're only a fan of the original and unwilling to explore the franchise beyond that, then are you really a fan of the whole franchise?
