I got my headed caved-in and handed to me due being un-prepared for a locals league tournament sometime last year. Emerald Break RQuaza and SpookySect I recall were two of the decks that beat the fuck out of me at the tournament. ;_;

M Ray is definitely a very fast and powerful deck and is capable of winning tournaments (it won the Liverpool regional not too long ago).

The problem with it though is that it is too easily teched against (Parallel City is one example) and so only really wins if people aren't expecting to run into it. Unfortunately, it also gets rekt by a lot of the same stuff that beats Yveltal. Given Yveltal's popularity at the moment, it's a tough environment for M Ray.

Might be worth giving PTCGO a try before you drop money on real cards if you plan on playing competitively. It will give you an idea of what cards are absolutely essential to have.

I don't play IRL, but the general advice I see here is to buy the Keldeo vs Rayquaza Battle Arena decks to get staples, then buy singles of the other cards you need. However, if you're into collecting, you could buy boxes of the set containing the most cards you want.

kind of want to try something like this but wanted to see if anyone here had input first. Raichu zaps a lot of the fighting-resist mons that would give Passimian trouble like Yveltals and Rayquazas, Vespiquen for draw and also for an alt wincon once a lot of pokemon are discarded. I've heard some people are considering Mew in Passimian decks so you can bench all four and hit for 130 but i think that might be too many pokemon for this deck..

If you aren't running Mew and a number of ways to recover Passimian, you shouldn't bother playing it. The basic energy are unnecessary and getting rid of them will give you room for other cards, like a second special charge, super rods, another seeker, a trainers mail, etc.

all shaymin does from a financial perspective is shift income, most of the extra value generated through shaymins is captured by resale and doesn't directly translate to extra profit for tcpi. I mean, it does drive booster sales to some extent, but only for roaring skies packs at the expense of sales for other packs. When you have several different packs in rotation it's actually very bad to make one pack so disproportionately valuable.

If you are just talking about Pokemon with 0 retreat, then what is best will depend on your deck. Greninja is very good and retreats for free; Vespiquen likewise. Talonflame is versatile and can go in many decks. What are you actually trying to build?

I just found a LITERAL retard to play against.

I wish there was a replay function so I could show his last 3 turns, he kept using Metagross's ability to switch pokemon around, bringing my Lugia, which WOULD DO MORE DAMAGE THAN MY TROPIUS out and switching in shitmons from his bench for me to KO, I kept switching it back out because I only wanted grass damage and Lugia was just there as a discard, but I'd already milled my deck down to 7 cards and my Vespiquens were already in discard anyways.

For his final turn, when I had no draws left, he had to choose between switching in a Metagross with 120 HP remaining and a Bouffalant with 80HP remaining against my Tropius. He chose Bouffalant and I killed him and took my last prize the same turn I ran out of draws.

as a collector, they fucked the puppy big time with these extra rarities. the average price of collecting a single expansion has jumped from 400-500 by a third of that and that is going to turn people off. I for one am not going to bother trying to get every card like I did in the XY set.

Give it to me straight /vp/, how meme is this deck? Idea behind it is to dump grass energies on Trev EX with Lurantis (or herself for her GX move), strategy takes awhile to get going so I have Gumshoos+Tsareena+Skull Grunt for highly targeted hand disruption, Tsareena can knock out a card of my choice every time it's played, and I can use Devolution Spray and potentially Revitalizer to re-play Tsareena, and VS seeker to re-play Skull Grunts to take out any energy Gumshoos sniffs out. Gumshoos can also be played as an alternative attacker with a 100 damage for *** move and a GX option. I'm thinking a lot of balls because I have a lot of moving parts but might want to dump the timers and/or nests.

I tried to keep the list to a tight set of ubiquitous cards. Float Stone and Olympia see more play than Switch and Escape Rope.

I wouldn't quite describe them as staples. They fit into the same category as stuff like Max Elixir, Parallel City, Crushing/Enhanced Hammer, and Super Rod. Useful in quite a lot of decks, but not used all the time. Ranger probably falls into this category too, now that I think about it (useful online, less useful IRL).

I'm so salty about this deck.

I don't have a lot of money to invest and I know that stock decks are generally shitty but I can't do anything with this.

Even taking out some useless mons, like Ducklett and others, to put in some Ultra Balls, Switches and basic, useful trainers does nothing for me.

Having only one Deluge Blastoise makes its setup way harder, with nothing else to hold the game. It doesn't help that this is a Plasma deck in a time where everything else is way beefier.

Should I just drop it and save for a new Sun&Moon stock deck?

I really liked to play Pokemon Trading Card Game Online a couple of years ago.
It was fun to win, it wasn't dissapointing to lose, because balance in cards was perfect at a time, and winning or loosing a match was a matter of how you play, not wich cards you added in your deck.

But nowadays, every time I go to play in Versus mode, I facing against one and the same cards over and over again.
Those cards were made not for fair play, but for easy wins. They allows player to deal giant damage, add more than one energy card in a turn, change opponent's pokemon, poison opponent every turn, attack twice in a turn etc.
Those cards are unfair, and they really ruins all the fun from playing PTCGO.

I made a list of those cards (see below).
I have some of them in my collection, but I don't have any of those cards in any of my decks, because I'm trying to pay maximum respect to my opponents. Howewer, most of my opponents do not respect me, and uses at least one of this cards:

Decidumeme will be one of the biggest cancers of this set, for sure. I bet some people will combine it with FOGP and some tanky stuff/switch plays to screen while they build a firing squad of numale owls on the bench. They even have an a GX move that lets them pull a full 3 stage line out of discard, so even if you lysandre and OHKO one of them (which will not be trivial, they have over 200hp) one of their brethren can revive it and if FOGP is up, you have him back on the bench shooting next turn.

It doesn't work like that. The cycle starts the first day you login.

You get 5 tokens on the first day. If you login on the following day, you get 10 tokens. Then 15 tokens, then an event ticket and finally a booster. After that, the cycle resets.

The cycle will also reset if you miss a day. You can check where you are in the cycle by clicking the Pokeball which bounces around on the homepage.

This is probably the most fun NON MEME deck I've built for this game. Built around putting Electrodes and mass lightning energies on a Raikou, using a combination of stadiums, fighting fury belts and Jolteon EX to stall if need be before Raikou is ready. Can't even be called a meme deck because it's actually legitimately good, the energy acceleration you can get with electrode is insane.

what is the meta like in Legacy currently? I want to have a genuine deck that will fuck over people that try to scam the genting thing (because I keep a list cos fuck those guys). I don't mind the genting, but those guys that only do it when it comes up them and then don't do it when it's not - well I'd like to have a legit deck built to fuck with them.

I stole the concept from someone who beat me on ladder, guy I stole it from ran 3/3 voltorb/electrode, had trubbish/garbodor, 2 shaymin and no Jolteon on his list.

I've got a Greninja BREAK and Vespiquen deck, this feels a little less consistent than Greninja but actually more consistent than Vespiquen and it plays faster than both of them.

I'm very underwhelmed by Vespiquen in general these days, I know it's a good deck and sees tons of tournament play but I just feel that there are so many moving parts, one fuckup or a shit hand where you have 3 vs seekers and still need to sycamore and you can get just brutally fucked. Maybe it's because I'm playing it without Shaymins.

Would you not be better running more Voltorb/Electrode and fewer basic energies? You might be able to free up a bit of deck space.

I would also definitely recommend running Ace Trainer. You are giving your opponent free prizes early on, so you may as well make use of that fact.

True. Might also be worth incorporating some nest/level balls as well since the way this deck works, voltorbs/electrodes = lightning energy. Nest balls also let me draw attackers if need be since all of my attackers are basic. Level balls can get me either of my supporters since both have 90hp or less and getting Octillery up is kind of a big deal.

The ONE concern I have with this is it makes Elixirs a little less effective. Maybe go down to 2 max elixirs, 6 lightning energy. Gives me space for 8 extra cards, 4 can be voltorb/electrode, the other 4 can be a mix of nest or level balls.

Yeah, I had considered that too. I think it is a reasonable trade-off though, as Max Elixir gives you a chance of attaching 1 energy, whereas Electrode is a guaranteed 2. Therefore, I think going to 4-4 for consistency is a good idea. Electrode can also be attached to the active if you need to take out a big threat quickly.

Reducing the energy count also has the benefit of reducing your chances of dead draws. A hand full of basic energy can be a problem, whereas Voltorb/Level Ball/Nest Ball are more likely to be live cards. Also, with just a 2-2 line you're in that slightly iffy zone where you might end up prizing all your Voltorbs or Electrodes and this will slow you down.

Well, given that's for Japanese only this is pretty much how it'd break down in English:

- At least 12~13 Regular GXs (8 from SM2, 4 GXs from SM1+, and perhaps Tapu Bulu-GX from SM2 starter deck)
- 15 Full Art Rares (10 from SM2, 4 from SM1+, and the Hau Promo)
- 12 Hyper Rares (8 from SM2 and 4 from SM1+)
- Whatever Gold Secret Rares we have in SM2 and SM1+ (I'm banking on minimum 7)

So basically we will almost have 20 Secret Rares

Verdict: Japan deserves to suffer another Two Lost Decades for this nonsense
