The game is about neutral, resource management and hit conversion, literally every character can kill a medium health character with an optimal combo, no one gives a shit about lmao damage. That's why all the top teams have extremely oppressive neutral game like MorriDoom and ZMC

you could say the same about pokken, except you have to make reads between conversions because pokken is balanced to not let someone get streamrolled unless they consistently make the wrong decision. pokken is extremely neutral based and even when you're in an advantageous position you still have to play mindgames because of a slew of mixups

No, you can't.
Pokkén's cast is entirely neutral-based and short combos. Pokkén doesn't have immediate 0-deaths upon a good input. MVC revolves around the neutral but if you goof a combo, you give your opponent an opening on yourself. The requirement of long and creative conversions in MVC completely goes against Pokkén's "Memorize the button combo once you land something"style of breaking neutral.

I like skullgirls a lot and it really has deserved a spot at evo for a long time, but I like pokken a bit more and I think pokken has more to gain from being at evo.

The skullgirls communicty has established it'll stay tight knit and together forerver, wheras pokken's is at a real risk of dying out if it doesn't get support.

Yes, it is enjoyable for spectators, not so much for the receiving side, but that's what your next stock and your tank to deal with. Most teams aren't prepared for every character and some can slip out of combos. The first exchange isn't guaranteed death, but compared to Pokkén's 4+ necessary breaks per stock, it's a lot more interesting.

Having the dynamic phase shifts plus multiple opportunity allows for a lot more back-and-forth exchanges and an overall more interesting and engaging spectator and player experience, as long as both players are actually good at the game and know what they're doing. The meta has developed a lot more and is a lot more enjoyable to watch now, I firmly believe it deserves another chance at EVO.

I've seen it, I like Pokkén, don't get me wrong, but phase shifts and having to break the neutral twice every time you want to get good damage off or otherwise playing the spacing game aren't as fun as MvC's crazy combo game. I think it's much more fun to watch the person that brings out Viewtiful Joe and starts Boomerang conversions into his stupidly fun aerial game than, say, Zard's heavy punish game, one of the more interesting to watch IMO.
