ITT: Singles type pokemon you'd like to give a second typing via retcon, evolution, mega, regional form, etc.
Lurantis being pure grass is the same joke as Sudowoodo being pure rock
>>31554671
besides gatr and Absol
list is fine
Mega Absol should've been fairy
>>31554671
>give fire type to sunflora
>but not cherrimor bellossom
>>31554671
I can understand and agree with most of these, so I'll just ask about the ones I don't get:
>Why fire for sunflora? even if it is related to the sun, it doesn't have any kind of fire, flame or lava whatsoever. Solar beam for example, is not a fire move
>Why fairy for vanilluxe? I don't recall any northern fairy that resembles icicles or anything
>Also not that I can't understand the reason, but are you really sure about boosting chansey with a fairy typing? being weak to only poison/steel and giving it actual resistances buffs it way more than it has any right to
>Why dark for Gothitelle line? All I can see when I think about gothic-related pokemon is that they should be psychic/ghost, specially since they can do the astral body/projection bullshit. Where does dark come in?
>Why grass for passimian? because he wears a berry helmet? shouldn't alakazam be psychic/steel because it holds steel spoons?
>Bug on lurantis makes sense because of how it looks, but is one of those cases where the typing is part of a joke, so dunno what to tell you about it
+Steel
>>31554725
>via retcon, evolution, mega, regional form, etc.
>>31554671
>It's black so it must be dark
>It has 'sun' in its name so it must be fire
>It's reptilian so it must be dragon
>It can punch and kick so it must be fighting
>It looks like a plant so it must be grass
>It's slimy so it must be poison
>It looks like a bug so it must be a bug
>It's floats so it must be ghost
>>31554747
Yeah but I'm asking what's the reason behind those typings choices, not how they'd be given to the pokemon
>>31554748
That's how it usually works for GF yes
eeveelutions should have normal type.
>>31554759
>Glaceon is now a slow, Normal/Ice type
Fuck that give Eeveelutions 2 regular abilities like, you know, it's previous evolution. Gives everyone else a chance to shine again.
>>31554744
Psychic/electric might suit it more
especially with the flashing lights on it
>>31554671
>Missing the entire point of Lurantis
>>31554775
What abilities would suit them, I wonder?
>fairy type Chansey/Blissey
Are you insane???
>>31554759
Togepi used Rock Smash
>>31554778
>flashing lights
>must be powered by electricity
>>31554802
now you get it
>>31554784
>Flareon: Flame Body
>Jolteon: Lightning Rod
>Vaporeon: Storm Drain
>Espeon: Super Luck
>Umbreon: Intimidate
>Leafeon: Grassy Surge
>Glaceon: Slush Rush
>Sylveon: Misty Surge
>>31554831
considering umbreon sweats poison
shouldn't it get poison heal or poison point
>>31554841
Poison Touch
>>31554841
True, and Poison Heal would help it a bit better than Intimidate. Or not, I dunno.
>>31554854
that could work too
>>31554858
either or work
just with poison heal seems like heal bell wouldnt be worth it
>>31554725
>>31554751
In all honesty, Sunflora, Gothitelle, and Passimian are basically >>31554748 and >>31554756 . Fairy on Vanilluxe because it could use a buff in exchange for a x4 Steel weakness. Also yes, the typing choice for Lurantis and the Chansey line is more based on their looks as well, big mistake.
>>31554671
Luranitis is a REVERSE orchid mantis you fucking retard. Its an orchid that resembles an insect but isn't an insect by biology. Just as similar to pic related. Instead of judging pokemon based on their appearance alone, how about you understand their origins first before posting like a uneducated buffoon?
>>31554941
>Fairy on Vanilluxe because it could use a buff in exchange for a x4 Steel weakness.
Whats with people associating Vanilite line with fairies when they're literally just a living icicles? Its almost like making Goldeen a fire type when its literally just a fish.
>>31554831
>not giving espeon and jolteon the other surges
do they become any more useful
>>31555020
Fairy type is basically cute/pretty/happy type
>>31555021
Eh, I thought they'd fit other mons, like Musharna and Galvantula.
But, I don't see why not now.
>>31554671
>nerfing cofagrigus
fucking why
>>31554671
>it's black so it must be dark type
Fuck off.
>>31555021
Jolteon completely outclasses Koko as a special attacker if that happens
>>31555366
You say this but that only really applies to about half of them.
Nearly all of those are sufficiently angry/"evil" enough to be "evil" type
>>31554671
>Lurantis
>part Bug
stop.
>>31554671
>Dragon type non-mega starter
"no"
>>31555367
Jolteon doesn't have Taunt, Calm Mind, instant recovery, Grass and Fairy coverage, and a Super Fang clone to actually touch Chansey. Top Kek is still the superior option.
>>31554685
The funny part is it has the same weaknesses as Bug-Types anyway
>>31555529
not weak to rock
>>31555032
Thus Lurantis should be Grass/Fairy
huntail: electric
>>31555637
Exactly
This is why Fairy was a bad idea
>>31555637
>4x Poison weakness
Why would you want make a shitmon even more utter shit?
>>31554671
Maractus shouldn't be ground type, it makes no sense. Neither do Carnivine, Huntail, Basculin, Sunflora, Lurantis, Musharna, Florges, Passimian, Comfey, Vanniluxe, the Chansey line, Gorebyss, Phione, Manaphy, Cherrim, Volbeat, Illumise, Chimeco, Primeape, Gogoat, Milotic and Feraligatr.
>>31554671
Goo.dra makes more sense as Dragon/Water.
Lycanroc Midnight should be Rock/Fighting if they're going to act like Counter is its "signature" move. Plus there's nothing really mean-spirited about it. It just likes to fight.
Necrozma should be Psychic/Rock.
Agree strongly on Milotic becoming Water/Fairy, though I wouldn't mind a Water/Dragon mega.
Chansey line should only become part (or pure) Fairy if Fairy gets a defensive nerf, or Eviolite is nerfed. Or just make Blissey Normal/Fairy (or pure Fairy) to help prevent it from being overshadowed by Chansey.
Cofagrigus could also pass for Ground or Steel.
Agree on Tsareena, Golduck, Absol, Dunsparce, Primeape, Clamperl evos, Basculin, Cresselia, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Pyukumuku, Florges, and Comfey.
Disagree on Feraligatr, the fireflies, Vanilluxe, and Lurantis.
No opinion on the others.
I'd also like to add
>Trapinch becoming Ground/Bug and Shelmet becoming Bug/Steel
Sure they'd lose it upon evolution (I'm not one of the fags who thinks Flygon should be part Bug), but it makes sense and Trapinch would be the best with that type combo since we currently just have a Wormadam form and fucking Nincada.
>Krabby, Kingler, Corphish, Clauncher, Clawitzer, and Crabrawler gaining Bug as a secondary type
Sure Water/Bug would then start to become an obnoxiously common type combo, but it's better than more pure Water and fixed this dumb inconsistency (why are some crustaceans considered Bugs but not others)?
>Water/Fighting Samurott
>Electric/Grass Xurkitree
>Rock/Normal Rockruff and Lycanroc Midday
And give Midday Extreme Speed and replace Sand Rush with Sand Force (or Adaptability, but in that case don't give it ESpeed since it has QA).
>(why are some crustaceans considered Bugs but not others)
A.) A great phylogenetic/taxonomic question. Reptiles and birds, anon
B.) What crustacean pokemon are currently part bug?
>>31556106
Looked it up. Dwebble line
>>31556140
Also Parasect
>>31554748
Pyukumuku's signature move is Poison type though, for whatever reason.
>>31556154
Well, it purifies toxins.
Actually, it would help if it were part Poison because it can't purify itself.
>>31556150
Parasect's a cicada (insect)
>>31554748
>>It's slimy so it must be poison
I used to say this to the Dragon/Poison Goo.drafags during Gen 6 and point how there's nothing poisonous about slime, but in SM the Pokedex now talks about Goomy being coated in germs and Sliggoo dissolving things, both of which fall in line with Poison's themes.
>>31556211
Oh shit really?
I always assumed it was some kinda fucked up hermit crab with claws and a mushroom for a shell
>>31556106
>>31556140
Wimpod/Golisopod
>>31556214
go.odra should be a water type
>evolves in rain
>still pure dragon
>>31554671
stopped reading at rock-type gogoat. Seriously?
>>31556226
Right! I forget that isopods are crustaceans.
I'm an entomologist, not a carcinologist!
>>31556106
>>31556140
>>31556226
Anorith is also based on a relative to the ancestor of all arthropods, which would go along with Bug being the general arthropod type. Also, based on the how the Pokedex describes it using its "wings" to swim as if it were flying, it might also be based on the supposed link between crustaceans and insects (where 3 pairs of gills became the earliest wings in existence).
>>31556284
>>31556336
Making Gogoat Rock just because it's good at Rock Climbing (Which is a Normal-type move to begin with) is like making Onix Dark-type because it lives in caves, or Murkrow a Grass-type because it lives in forests
