Why is this entire franchise built on Gen 1?

Gen 1: Let's go to Kanto!
Gen 2: Let's revisit Kanto!
Gen 3: Let's remake Kanto!
Gen 4: Let's revisit Kanto in the remake!
Gen 5: Let's base the pokedex on Gen 1!
Gen 6: Let's give megas to a shit ton of Gen 1 mons while forgetting everything else!
Gen 7: KANTO THIS KANTO THAT also only Gen 1 mons get alolan forms!
