Is there any way to speed up the gameplay of the 4th Gen DS games?

I think adjusting the emu speed is your only option.

Flawless platinum is pretty good, lets you get all pokemon up till gen4.
There's a also a challenge mode that changes all the teams to be harder. Level progression is also changed so your team will reach lv100 shortly after you get to stark mountain. Unfortunately it gives Cynthia 6 legendaries, she's easier than before since her entire team is now weak to ice.

I think that's only her team in challenge mode. Not 100% sure though.

You also get the natdex and bike at the beginning of the game.
