I saw the current bogleech thread and it made me interested in trying something similar.
Let's try to have a thread(s) dedicated to talking about our feelings of a pokemon or line of pokemon. Be it design, competitive relevance, or concept.
Similar to them let's try this in national dex order. Starting with #1-3, Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venasaur. Please keep all discussion in relation to these three pokemon only.

When I think of Pokémon, I think of these dudes.
The 'saur family represents the perfect balance of "it just gets bigger" vs an advancing and interesting theme throughout the family.
Yeah, its simple. But that's what makes them so charming. Each stage is appealing.
Plus, Mega Venusaur is SUPER rad.

Bulbasaur
>A reptilomammal with mottled green skin and a parasitic bulb embedded on its back? Truely, a juvenile pocket monster.
Ivysaur
>The baby grew up. Turns out that the bulb grows into a big plant. Lookin' like a monster now!
Venusaur
>It's all big and warty now! The big flower on the back sure is something. A well endowed pair of symbiotic organisms, overall.
They're pretty decent. Not wacky or outstanding in any way, but truely a MONSTER.
6/10 for being monstrous!

Personally I feel like venosaur is dissapointing. Bulb to ivy is simple but it works well enough. Ivy to veno is just weird to me. Venosaur is just kind of ugly in my opinion. The round eyes seem weird after triangle eyes, the weird bumps on the legs are ugly too.
It's a good line overall though. bulbasaur is adorable and ivysaur is "it just gets bigger" but good enough to stand on it's own.

Feel like this idea has potential.
