Primarina, I guess, but only because I really like sea lions. Then they decided to mesh selkie/mermaid mythology into the whole line and the latter subject isn't really that interesting to me even though I know those mythologies have been a thing since a very long time.

besides that, I can't really think of anything else and I wouldn't exactly say "hurr it's ruined" either because that would just be acting too entitled because of it, just that I was mostly disappointed by it.

You know how you used to like something and then something entirely different you're not all that interested in gets slapped in it? That's mostly how I feel. Some Litten fans might also feel like this in the sense that not all Litten fans might like the wrestling theme involved in this line or not all Rowlet fans might like the archery theme involved in that line.

I think pheasants are fucking cool looking birds, but the Unfezants? They're kind of unremarkable. I guess that's excusable in the female's case, but male pheasants are usually so garish and have this characteristic pompous air about them, almost like a fat looking aristocrat, that I don't think was carried over particularly well here at all.
There are so many different species of pheasant that I guess we could get a better pokemon one in the future, but for now, this is all I have, and it sucks.

Also, their stats are shite and 'Unfezant' is a fucking terrible name.


They did god with Pidove and Tranquil though, even if they are just my mom's pigeons.

But honestly, I don't think they designed these with captivity in mind, they're more like actual freaky ass folklore shit you meet that isn't trying to meet up with your expectations of what's cool or not and that's why they're so fucking gawrish looking, but at the same time, they give you the choice to have them in your team regardless.

I do have to admit some design cases are simply copy paste, which is just plain lazy.

Honestly, it barely resembles a tiger, maybe due to the fact that it evolved from a ordinary house cat and looks more like a overgrown one that decided to stand up and become a heel wrestler. Only the stripes make it vaguely look like one and that's reaching.

I don't know if this really counts but Aloan Raticate's cheek pouch's ruin the dark evil rat thing because i KNOW it's supposed to be a black rat, so it just looks stupid and disappointing since i liked normal Raticate a lot.

I don't mind shiitonic for gen wun as much because they made it kinda work in the descriptions. They made it mirror parasect, which is normally something most people dislike because parasites, and they made a competitor who is equally worse if not more. They said in the dex, that the two species fight each other over territory. This basically splits the options between having an insect mind controlling, parasitic fungus, or a fungus that misleads people into the woods in order to feed.
I just think that even if it was for gen one pandering, it was one of the better ones. I mostly liked how they link stuff from different gens for new ecosystems. Probably my favorite part about the new dex entries.
Design is a bit lackluster in my opinion though.

Primarina's not a mermaid though. If anything, it's a sea lion/seal/selkie hybrid. It just happens to LOOK like a mermaid due to the gown-like effect in its tail.

as far as I know, I don't think mermaids have that much shit in them either, Primarina's clustered in frills up its ass and in most cases, do not have two starfishes on both sides of the head.

It evokes the traditional girly "singing mermaid" image, with starfishes and pearls being part of the classic Diney-fied mermaid look.

My complaint about Tapu Fini is that it's clearly a feminie water sprite but not really an "iconic" mermaid, and it would be bittersweet to have a quasi-meramaid like that.
