I really liked Crabrawler's design and it should have evolved into a speedy, strong, and defensively well-balanced Glass Joe-looking crab thing, especially considering how late in the game you have to wait just to get the damn thing. Instead, we got a doofy turd whose only good stats are Attack and maybe HP.

Why all the dislike on Grass/Ghost? All of them have cool designs.

A lot of people had unrealistic expectations for Deciueye, thinking it'll be the next Blaziken or some shit. They all wanted a powerful unstoppable warrior. Decidueye came out and it was a decent attacker with good support moves. That's not an unstoppable warrior, though, so they were disappointed.

Not sure what's wrong with Dhelmise and Pumpkaboo, though, I personally love both of them.

Not that Mega Steelix is the worst or anything, but it's what disappointed me most. I expected Dugtrio and Sandslash to be pretty lame to begin with (although removing Dugtrio's super-awesome ability was a real crap move), and there's the likes of Wormadam and Bastiodon that were going to suck from the beginning, but M-Steelix was the one that I genuinely had my hopes up for not sucking considering how great the other Steel Megas were. But it ended up just being practically a clone of Mega Aggron (seriously, their stats are extremely similar), but with a worse ability.

I wish I was joking, but the first Water-type starter is also the most plain mono-Water type I've ever used and I've played two mono-water runs.
Even Golduck had a memorable use as my HM slave, and Vaporeon was my tank with Acid Armor, Basculin had Adaptability. Only Samurott comes close.
