Johto is a shit region which barely has its own identity. It rides the coattails of Kanto.

Johto is small and barren due to having to share itself with Kanto. Having two regions made both of them suck.

HGSS isn't the best Pokémon game. It could be if the battle UI didn't suffer from pre-Platinum 'slow as shit' syndrome, and they'd fixed the wild Pokémon level curve
