The only excuse I can think of why it's taking so long, is that if it's an entirely new app, they would have to do data transfers between the servers of the old app to the new one.

And considering you have millions upon millions of people using bank to store god knows how much data in pokemon, that COULD take a long ass time. Especially if you're making sure it's being done right AND backing up absolutely everything in case something goes wrong.

There is no way that can work because they have to keep up to date with all the live transactions with the current bank that is STILL up and running right now. They would have to make the new bank compatible with the current servers for and update to ever work.

This wouldn't even be a problem if they just made an ingame method to transfer Pokemon that co-exists alongside Bank and future-proofs the day 3DS Servers are shut down.

The first day it was open, only Japanese players got it, and it crashed after a few hours. They brought it back up after a few days and it crashed again. Then GF brought bank back online, limited the connectivity even more, making it Japan only while the rest of the world had to wait and watch for like a week or two.

Uh, no it wasn't.
It was released on the specified day for asia, crashed because of the large volume of people making their accounts, who for some reason decided to wait until the day everyone and their mother would be accessing the e-shop to either spend a pre paid card or access bank, and then was removed from the asian e-shop four days later where it was slow rolled out across the world until February.

In other words, Bank was delayed AFTER its initial release.

I recommend everyone utilizing the bank to move all their Pokemon down to their Gen 6 games. They should be safe there until GF decides to actually provide some news regarding the new bank and how to go about bringing Pokemon up to SM.

When the new bank drops, I also recommend bringing up useless fodder Pokemon to make sure everything goes accordingly, in the chance something goes awry (cause GF is competent at best) and results in erased Pokemon.

I don't need to show off my hacked mons to feel validated. I inject them for my own personal enjoyment and amusement. They serve their purpose. Besides, everyone knows that you can inject perfectly legal pokemon. So why spend money on a service to transfer them over and risk losing all your pokemon in the event of some server issue, when you can inject them for free with no risk?
