Would it be so hard to have a character model that can make facial expressions, or show some kind of emotion?
I have to bear witness to my friend's mother brutally murder a pokemon while trying to tear a hole in space trying to replace her childrens' love and as I watch everything come crashing down around us all I do is stand there with the same psychotic smile on my face. Is the protagonist a sociopath or something?

Fucking this. Holy fuck for the first time in forever there's somewhat of a decent story in a pokemon game, and then it gets ruined by you being a fucking robot with a slasher smile 24/7.

Considering that pic related already did that 20-something years ago? No, it won't be.
Of course, it might be different in this case; my ignorance doesn't give me much room to criticize.

They were trying to avoid forcing emotion that the player might not be feeling onto the character that represents them, but god fucking dammit is it creepy.

This really pissed me off, since everyone else is actually fairly emotive.
Like, fucking everyone else.

It'd be almost reasonable, except a content smile is a ridiculous default expression.
and when shit goes down, the PC almost never really reacts, which is probably a bigger disconnect than the PC reacting a bit differently how I would
