Shell Smash is the only thing that could save it but Retarded Freak replaced a Battle Tree Kommo-o with that move for Draco Meteor. Also a Dragon/Steel would had been better because at least it could fight back Fairies.

Now Kommo-o will be the only Pseudo-Legendary in a tier lower than OU and UU.

Think of teambuilding as making a fort. You want a strong foundation that builds on the core.

In Kommo-o's case, the foundation is a strong special attack that's hindered by subpar speed and poor movepool. However, Kommo-o's special movepool of Steel, Dragon, Fire, and Fighting has perfect neutral coverage, so if you predict properly, you always have some way to deal neutral damage. So instead you should look at Kommo-o's weaknesses from the defensive side, namely Fairy-types. A good Kommo-o partner should be able to deal with Fairy-types(Tapus mainly), while also covering Specially Defensive Pokemon. So for that, you'll want to look at Physically strong Poison or Steel-types, since they resist Fairy STAB and can hit super effectively. Then from there, you have another layer of the fort that brings more strengths and weaknesses. So you slowly add support to your team until every scenario is covered. Whether it's HO, Stall, or Balanced, you'll want a suitable Pokemon to handle major threats in the meta.
