Who fucking knows. I know I'd take triple/rotation battles back over the fucking hax that is Royals.

Rotation was legitimately my favorite mode. Shame it was underdeveloped back then as well anyway.

There were a couple of instances where the player teams up with Hau to fight 2 Skull grunts iirc. So technically, yes, 8 models.

They likely took it out because it was a mess, not due to lag issues. That's why there's no inverse battles anymore too.

Don't know about hordes but they likely dropped triples and rotation since barely anyone touched them.

Pretty sure Inverse are still a thing, but only for specific online Tournaments. And i hopefully wish they'd make them a downloadable Ruleset.

Most of people used Lumiose restaurants with triples and rotation to level up their pokemon

I imagine the trainer models don't have as big as an impact as the poorly optimized pokemon models.

If you watch the camera swivel around you'll notice it's careful to never actually show all 8 models on the screen at once. Even when it pans out in Multi one trainer is cleverly just out of sight

That is actually the case. Except Beast Lusamine, that thing is Volcanion-like in polygons.
