How could Gamefreak fix the lake trio to be less lame and weaker

Just retcon them out of existence, they served almost no purpose other than making a triangle anyway. People were complaining about dex bloat too, and even better to remove some extraneous, gen 4, Psychic-type, worthless legends.

Fairy typing and a powered up form of sorts that's not mega evolution. Make the form be related to what they bestowed to humans (knowledge, emotions, willpower), right now they are just 3 bland fetuses.

Psychic type is a mistake and should just be retconned for Fairy already, that's how pathetic Psychic is nowadays.

Though all of them being the same type doesn't help either. The other minor trios (save for the regis) all share a type, but have different playstyles and secondary types.

That's pretty dumb. Azelf was really good back in the Gen 4 meta, and Uxie is still pretty useful to this day. Never been a fan of Mesprit though.
