protein only gives 10 EVs. to max out a stat, you need 252 EVs.

it's much cheaper and simpler to just SOS chain or use the pelago island that trains EVs

So the leftmost image is it's actual calculated stats. These get recalculated on levelup and I think when you put them in the PC. The middle picture is a picture of it's EV's, and this is what you're increasing with Protein. wild pokemon etc. The rightmost image is the IV spread, and you can only change this by injecting hyper training.

It's much faster to EV train if you chain battle a pokemon while holding an EV item with pokerus. Without the EV item though, not worth the time.
