Toucannon is slow already. Against a faster Pokemon, Beak Blast is just going to provide an opportunity to burn them as well as be a really powerful move. Without Beak Blast against a faster opponent you could use any number of other moves that are probably lower BP and without causing burn.

BB is a good move, though. Toucannon is so slow, he's going to go last anyway.

Beak Blast doesn't require a trigger dumbass.

It works like Focus Punch, the "charging" part of the move has a very high priority and goes first, then the attacking part has a very low priority and goes last.

It all happens in the same turn and regardless of whether or not Toucannon burns the opponent in that turn. The burn is a bonus to a hard hitting Flying STAB move.

They should have made Toucannon slow and bulky. It would be a change from the fast normal/flying types we get nearly every gen, and Beak Blast would be so much better. It's speed wouldn't matter if it could survive a hit, then dish out a burn AND a shit ton of damage.

Toucannon is yet another fucking Normal/Flying Pokemon with no resists of note and mediocre defenses. They could've made it Fighting/Flying or any other number of x + Flying type to give it some resists. Maybe gave it actual defenses to compensate for being ass slow and it would've worked.

Same goes for Turtonator, they made a FRAGILE SLOW DEFENSIVE mon out of one of the best OFFENSIVE typings. Seriously what kind of fucking tank is it meant to be with 60HP and no recovery?! It also has only 90 s.atk so it can even use it's STAB's properly, high powered high risk attacks end up just becoming decent with a huge downfall.

Except in addition, it hands out burns for them trying to touch your angry toucan. It's a damn good move for it, especially alongside its huge attack rating.
