I chose Rowlet, but this was my MVP by a huge margin.

I used him, Marowak and Golisopod as my core three and switched the rest around a bit, I'd suggest getting something to hard counter flying types though, Kahili in particular really shook my shit up the first time through when her mandibuzz wrecked my golem hard

I forgot to mention that my Rowlet is level 15 already and the next thing I have to do is the first trial. The exp share is going to be disabled. is it cheating if I use pokemon amie with my pokemon? I love them too much to not pet them and feed them when they do well in a battle.

Yes, it's cheating. Pokemons start dodging attacks and random bullshit once they reach 4 hearts, so you can pet them but not too much.

Anyway i picked rowlet and my other mons were:
- raichu
- mimikyu
- passimian
- turtonator
- golisopod

Just don't get too many of the same type and you're good

Really want to recommend Araquanid. Even without a good physical water type attack until late game, he always pulled his weight for me. Biggest problem with that is there's quite a few new water types that are pretty cool. I say just pick whichever one you like the best to serve as a good complement to Decidueye.

I was also going to ask, but is Stoutland still good in Gen 7?

Literally anything you find on your first playthrough is a keeper mate. The game is fucking easy as piss.

Natures don't particularly matter for a story playthrough. Lonely is fine though, since that buffs attack, its highest stat, and its a physical attacker
