I got my hands on a n3ds (a friend asked me to hack it for him) and tried battle royales. It still lags, but noticeably less. At least you can select a move without waiting for the camera to start moving around.

First of all, the "overclocking" doesn't do shit for SM, as it's a n3ds-enhanced game, so the CPU already runs with it's highest clock speed.
Second of all, the o3ds doesn't support higher clock speeds.
