as a 4th it's pretty flexible but I think a steel fits the best, I used mega metagross but anything could work

Well, I beat all three Super modes and got my stamps. I also have a Living 'Dex of all 301 regional Pokémon. And I got the Poké Finder stamp for my passport, too. Battle Royal is a fucking joke that I swept all its modes in 15 minutes.

What the fuck else do I do? I already have my entire Gen VI Living 'Dex ready for transfer. I guess I'm just done with Pokémon until the next installment comes out?

Is it just me, or do trainers repeat a lot? I've fought Worker JT like 3 times in 20 battles. Yes, I know Pokémon are your partners on the site, now stop using shitty hail teams against me.

How weak can a coverage move be?

I kind of want fire fang on lycanrock night to have a weapon for steel types but with 65 BP it's basically useless for everything else. I mean he could one shot Scizor and Feroseed with it I'm assuming but outside of that I don't know.

Thinking of breeding Lucario for my first breed, mainly because I like fighting types and he's cool.

Obligatory mega stone so Absol isn't a complete waste, probably better off as a lead to make the best use of possible Magic Bounce against enemy status users.

Garchomp is likely your go-to Dragon since Megamence is off the table, but you still have other options like Dragonite, etc. Among Steel types, you have Celesteela, Kartana, Scizor/Metagross (shame no mega), or even bulky 'pivots' like Ferrothorn/Magnezone, etc.

lucario's alright, if a little limited in moves. you need to breed a jolly one with bullet punch for physical, or a timid one with vacuum wave if going special. special is a little harder to boost and more limited, but you dont have to worry about burns crippling you. you pretty much always want to go mega lucario.

to actually breed moves and natures, you're going to need to evolve riolu with high friendship during the day. this makes breeding lucario a bit of a time-sensitive chore.

I love Cloyster for the Battle Tree/Maison equivalents.

The AI is generally setup to go for the KO if it is able, and Cloyster's terrible SpDef actually allows it to bait offensive moves instead of most setup/status moves that actually threaten it so it can safely setup Shell Smash with the Focus Sash guarantee. Against physical moves, you're likely to survive it with some HP left too for the odd priority buffer (but since you don't invest into HP, don't count on it being meaningful unless you took a weak, non-SE hit).

I've been leading with a Minior since Shields Down's status immunity is amazing as is its stat change and coverage, but I've bred my Shellder and will get it Tree ready to take its place since with a Focus Sash, it effectively does the same thing, but with better coverage, immediately better stats, and the ability to bulldoze through normally troublesome Tree mechanics like Subs, Sturdy, Focus Sash, etc. I also just like Cloyster more, and in-game Tree/Maison is the last place it's still a strong choice rather than a slowly dwindling shadow of what it used to be in the competitive meta.

Dodrio got a major buff this gen with Jump Kick for coverage to finally hit Rock/Steels. It's like a stat shifted Staraptor; slightly weaker Fighting move, but higher base speed with sporting a strong enough base attack to output respectable damage.

It's fine, though I think that Naive is better for mixed Cloyster. You lose basically nothing (all special attacks will KO it except a weak non-STAB Ice Beam) and gain flexible coverage options. Surf is also more reliable than Razor Shell in the long haul with accuracy RNG.

For in-game purposes, I actually run Naughty (+Att/-SpDef) since speed tiers, while important, are less rigid; I'm either going to outspeed it or I won't because the game went something dumb like Scarf 130+ base speed mons.

Cloyster has 95 base Att and 85 base SpAtt; Surf is 90 base and Razor Shell is 75 base; both stats recieve a +2 buff through Shell Smash. All in all, the damage difference is minimal despite going mixed. Running Hydro Pump is better vs real people due to needed power difference, but Surf's 100% acc makes it the Battle Tree staple.

The few things that resist both Rock/Ice coverage are Steel types, most of which tend to be physically bulky and go down to Surf. The few Steel types that resist Surf are either Ferrothorn (+2 Icicle Spear can 2HKO if you get a crit or two depending on enemy stat spread, but can TWave or 2HKO with Power Whip, so eh matchup anyways) or Empoleon (legitimate counter to Cloyster, dies to Garchomp's EQ and won't use Ice on the switch-in since Cloyster 4x resists).

This is the build I ran on my first 0 to 50 Super Battle streak.

Lead with Pheromosa and U-turn on anything you can't 1 shot or if it looks unlikely that you will survive the hit. Ice beam to help garchomp's dragon counters and general great coverage. U-turn works great to break lead sashes and specificly if mimikyu gives you a damn headache. Rash for the sp attack and beast boost on it. You honestly don't need a speed nature for the battle tree as most pokemons that are gonna kill you after 1 boost have sash or priority.

Metagross is your wallbreaker, dealing with fairies that garchomp and Pheromosa can't handle, being a bulky fuck and just hitting like a truck. Bullet punch is picked over a 4th coverage move like Ice/Thunderpunch because it gives you the potential of revenge killing a faster sasher like greninja or anything that will probably take out 1 of your 3 pokemon but remain low. Hammer arm is used sparingly due to the speed debuff. Earthquake is taken care of by garchomp.

Tank Chomp is your main physical sponge. Metagross and chomp cover each other great. Rough Skin + rocky helmet makes you able to 1 shot most things with a neutral outrage or earthquake. The fire types that threaten metagross are easily handled by garchomp. The Sp.def investment is mainly to be able to switch in on said threat and still survive a 2nd hit. You can run Careful over Impish with your own Sp.def/Def investment if you want to survive special attacks better. But it undermines rocky helmet

Mega Lucario is a beast that can one shot almost anything that doesn't resist its STABs, you should definetly breed one.

I suggest you breed it jolly, and having Bullet punch as an egg move (you can use Smeargle for that, or just wait till pokebank arrives)

As for moves, aside bullet punch, close combat is mandatory, rock slide/stone edge is good for flying 'mons, poison jab is good for bulky grass types because you have a chance to poison them.

Thinking of swapping Gigalith's Explosion out for Toxic since Explosion has only come in super useful once or twice (though it is nice to be able to deal a ton of damage and then get Minior in safely).

The Minior is one I threw together from something in my box, I may train another at some point that's Modest and has a better Hidden Power.

I should probably swap Celesteela's Flame Charge out for something else but honestly it's worked out quite well so far and the Speed boost has helped a few times.

Right now I've been running Sylveon/Garchomp/Decidueye. Is that a viable team? Been thinking of switching Decidueye for someone better but I'm not sure who. Trying to avoid using UBs and Guardians.

Honestly Gyarados does a good job with Fightings. I lead with Nihilego so if something leads with Fighting I would switch to Gyarados, get the intimidate and it wouldn't be effective. Mega Evolve the next turn and they would use another coverage move. Gyara then kills the first mon and sweeps, or at the very least leaves something half dead so Nihilego can revenge and snowball from there.

Both times I lost with this team was against Trick Room, one against a lead Bronzong who Trick Roomed while I switched out and the other one was against the team I posted.

Team basically never loses unless I get hit with some bullshit crithax. This is everyone elses experience with Battle Tree too right? I had a Togedemaru lead before I got the Scizorite that worked way better than I ever thought it would. It would kill their leads maybe 70% of the time and at worse would nuzzle there pokemon and let Drampa set up.

Pretty standard sets, mons that are pretty overpowered for the Battle Tree in my opinion. Ninetales is run as a suicide lead, set up Aurora Veil first turn 99% of the time. Freeze Dry allows for OHKOs on 4x weak mons like Salamence, Kingdra, etc. Basically those dangerous dragons. Encore is exploitable to set up with Mimikyu / Greninja.
The idea is to set up Aurora Veil and then get some damage off on their lead to ensure Greninja gets Battle Bond off. From there, its coverage lets it get an OHKO on a disgusting amount of Pokemon. Hail also breaks sashes, though there's also Water Shuriken.
If Greninja dies, move into Mimikyu as last resort clean up and set up a swords dance. Twinkle Tackle lets you get a knock out on major threats.
Steel and fighting are pretty major problems, but that's why this team is explicitly run as a straight hyper offense behind Aurora Veil. Just don't be afraid to let Ninetales die and do your best to get Battle Bond off.

Just caught a Naive Tapu Koko in my one fast ball with HP Ice after less than a day of SRing. Feels pretty good

Going to replace Xurkitree with it in the battle tree because muh speed and tired of my team getting put to sleep by gengar. Figure its not built for bulk anyways, so I can at least have the option of either offense with naive, and I can't help but think it's going to get some decent physical moves with the move tutors next gen

I keep losing at about 45-47 wins so hopefully this will help out in singles

Only problem I see with running a dragon that sets up is Blizzard bypassing accuracy in Hail. Obviously you won't always encounter a Pokemon with Blizzard, but I seem to run across mono ice teams surprisingly often.
I haven't tried any of the UBs or Legendaries in Battle Tree / Competitive so I may be off my mark here, but Pheromosa seems to be a good fit. Frail enough that Aurora Veil would benefit it immensely, but strong enough to managed some OHKOs depending on coverage. The damage from hail is negligible in 3v3 when running hyper offense, In an ideal situation, the match is over before your 8 turns of Aurora Veil is gone.
A-Ninetales is great though, strongly recommend. Sorry I can't be more of a help, I still need to look into a lot of stuff myself!

I've been that same Megagross set, and it's so damn inconsistent. I personally can't bear running it without Iron Head - having my main STABs and coverage only have 90 accuracy continually fucks me over in the Tree. In my first battle against Cynthia it missed two Zen Headbutts on Milotic to lose me the match. Sad Times

If I were to replace porygon2 on my team what would you choose? I'm running the standard DD megamence and aegislash aside from it. I'd like toxapex but any good edgequake user would slap my shit. I appreciate the bulk and toxic stall but every time I've lost it's been because of porygon2 for whatever reason.
I'm thinking that going more offensive is probably the way to go. Some form of primarina was looking pretty tempting.

This set got me to 91 wins and counting. Taunt on Tapu gives you plenty of mons to set up and sweep on, and can also prevent Trick Room teams. Aegislash mops up anything Dragonite is scared of. Dragonite is the lead just to bait the A.I to send in things that Fini and Aegislash can handle, DD is really my late game revenge sweeper.

Against the AI it's bullshit. I haven't actually played against other humans but I imagine it's less fucking retarded. The game makes a conscious effort to fuck the player over if you're close to winning by ganging up on you.

I'd recommend Farium-Z on Mimikyu instead of Ghostium-Z. Being able to boost the accuracy from 90 to 100 is a lot more useful than you might imagine.
Aside from that, definitely run Iron Head or Poison Jab instead of Brick Break on Chomp. Crunch isn't very good either, you could run Swords Dance, Fire Fang, or even Flamethrower if you want to breed a Naive nature instead. Normally Rock moves are good on it, but accuracy is an issue even if you go for Rock Slide over Stone Edge.
As fas as items go, you could go for Lum or Rocky Helmet. Scarf is an option, but use Outrage as the last move if you do. Don't use the mega stone, if you want more power, give it a Life Orb and find something different for Kartana.
You might want to consider changing one team member to a special attacker, and maybe think of having something that resists ground and ice, but it looks pretty solid.
