the only problem with gen 5 was that the level scaling was so uniquely high that a lot of the pokemon evolve at ridiculous levels (litwick, mienfoo, golett, vullaby/rufflet,etc.) so they're kinda unusable in other games unless they're put at a late-game location, and then they aren't usable for a majority of the game

The fact that gen 5 wasted 6 fucking slots on the elemental monkeys is beyond stupid. Could have easily taken 4 fucking slots and done an evee like thing where they all have the same base pokemon. Also I really don't like legendary pokemon. They sit in my box never to be used.

Gen 5 had some good designs, but going through that picture there was a lot more stuff from 5 that I thought was terrible than 6 and 7 combined. 7 was the one I took least issue with, there was only a handful of designs I don't care for.

Samefag here. Counted every Johto and Sinnoh Pokemon which isn't related to previous generation mons. Johto has around 81 (19 are either baby or evolution forms) and Sinnoh 78 (29 from previous gens, 30 if you count Regigigas), so having 71 (because of Sylveon) + 48 Mega Evolution (+ Sylveon) gives us 120 new Pokemon only in Kalos, and 81 + 18 gives us 99 new Pokemon from Alola, being 219 new Pokemon in both generations (again, this without counting future gen VII games), with 67 being based on old generation Pokemon (Johto and Sinnoh give us 48 from those).
