Sun and Moon just used a bunch of symbolism that never led anywhere. People thought Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Solgaleo, Lunala and the whole Ultimate Weapon thing drawing inspiration from the exact same source would mean something, but as always GameFreak didn't deliver. Sun and Moon was a big disappointment compared to its potential.

Could this be what they meant? HG/SS are Gen 4 games sure, but they represent Gen 2.
