Opee, I believe you are generally incorrect in the notion that the player character is meant to be the ice specialist. I have to disagree with you.

However, I too find it disturbing that Gamefreak consistently does not do any favors for the Ice type. This generation gave us a boost to Ice through Alola Ninetales's Aurora Veil, as well as Slush Rush, but it feels glancing and incomplete. As it stands, I do not believe Stars, or whatever the new game will be, will make any additional changes to this, nor can we expect anything from a remake. We can only hope for a change in the next generation, a disquieting truth.
