Buddy, Ash is confirmed to be canon to the games in some form. If fucking ASH GRENINJA didn't give it away, there's a picture of Ash and Pikachu in Mimikyu's little room.

Besides, a pink Butterfree with maybe some more flair or patterns on the wings could make a cool Alolan forme, with the Bug/Fairy typing. Or Bug/Psychic.
