Giving all those old mons evolutions was an awesome idea, and almost all of them were really cool.

It's a shame gen 6 didn't learn something from that.

I don't like the babies but new evos are always better than reboots (gen 5) and megas (gen 6), you can actually improve old Pokémon permanently without inflating the dex too much.

Alolan forms/alternate forms are better IMO but it has an double edge effect, you can improve entire lines or make them worse.

I was excited for Gen IV leaks back then because of all these cross-evos. Megas are technically cross evos but they're just not the same.

The problem with Alolan forms is they've framed them as being related to Alola specifically when they should have just brought Delta Species into the main games.
They'll probably be forgotten about like Mega Evolution for next Generation's gimmick. And now the new games are going to need some awkwardly forced "Alolan Reserve" so you can keep getting them.
