The main character starts off his journey without a pokemon professor or any starter pokemon like traditional pokemon games. He instead comes by a discarded shuppet doll which comes to life as soon as he picks it up. The trainer then goes on a journey to return the shuppet back to its original trainer all the while taking it along on his journey and training alongside it until they form a connection with each other. At the very end of the game, the trainer finally meets the owner who had not discarded their shuppet but simply had lost it when their family used to live in that town and now the player returns their banette back to its original owner.

After you beat Drake, still at E4, you face the champion. The champion is your rival. He or she is amused that the Bagon that he or she abandoned grew up and became a Salamence. His or her ace is a Mega Dragonite, who is considered to be the strongest Pokemon in the world. But of course, you prove them wrong, as Pokemon aren't fighting machines, they are our friends.
