I'm not a fan of the powercreep that started with Gen 5 and continued until now. Gens 1-4 are pretty comfy for competitive (well, 2 is debatable...), it's just that I prefer the ridiculous over-the-top crit and hyper beam mechanics of Gen 1.

I love raising the Pokémon themselves (becausr it seems fulfilling, despite knowing they're just numbers) but I also love the competitive scene. If I had to choose one it would be the former, though.
