I think the issue with mandibuzz is that it's a primarily a physical defender and it's weaknesses are too killer. between ice, electric, and fairy special attackers being on every team there isn't much mandibuzz can do, especially when all of those have spread. you'd have to make a choice between Wacan and Roseli and even then that's only 1 turn of protection.

Well to be fair, all of those things are true IN GENERAL. Tapu fini really is the worst of the tapus. Hariyama really is shit in general. Magnezone really is shit in general, the guy using it just said so his fucking self in the interview before this match. Araquanid and drampa are also pretty bad in general.

The caveat is that all of those pokemon are good when supported correctly, or good at a certain niche. It's still true that you can't just slap these pokemon onto any team and have a successful run. Whereas, you can slap garchomp onto any team and be fine.

I've been looking at Whimsicott, since I enjoyed using it back in 11, though I was just a scrub playing scrubs back then. Whimsicott 1v1'ed a Lando though, so I always found that pretty funny

It should be even better theoretically, now that it's Fairy type. I was hoping for some thoughts. Speed Control seems almost dead outside of TR, and if I could find a way to stop that, Tailwind could give me a leg up. Encore is also always great. I ran it bulky before, and it could take a surprising amount of punishment before going down, and I think it could work again seeing as how Water and Electric seem like really common attacking types this time around

I've been enjoying using it alongside UBs with Endeavor so I can drop stuff to 120 hp and then get a free beast boost. Or if they outspeed somehow then I can drop it to 1 hp and still pick up a KO for a beast boost.

there's a lot of poison and ice so you'd need to have good team support to help deal with that. whimsicott gets taunt to help with trick room but the predominant TR setter (pory2) will probably predict that and give you a solid ice beam to the face.
