Sorry, I didn't mean to disagree with your overall statement about ice types post gen.1, I iust wanted to point out that Lapras isn't a bad pokemon, despite the passage of time.

Lapras made top 4 at Worlds in 2014 in seniors and I believe top 8 in masters (can't check while nuggetbridge is down) and the first big VGC 2016 event was won by Jon Hu, using it to counter Trick-Room strategies and Palkia. Later on, it still hard-countered Kyogre without Thunder, but it did lose traction later on, especially after Xernias+Groudon rose to power.

There are earlier records of Lapras (pre-worlds 2014 was also crawling with Lapras after Alex Ooglaza established the Politoad+Ludicolo rain core) as well. It's a niché pokemon, but it always had a place.

You can do a lot worse than hitting 3 types SE and being resisted by 4, especially when Steels almost always have coverage against at least Fire/Steel

I waited 7 generations for a poison type legendary and it didn't live up to the hype. Levitate would've made it better, but its Ultra Beast theme pigeonheld it and it's overall lackluster even for an UB.

Nihilego's type is interesting.

Rock is good offensively but bad defensively while Poison is bad offensively but good defensively.

I didn't say huge buff.
But it is an objective improvement from before.
It also means all ohko moves now have one type that's immune.

Ice should resist water and water should keep it's ice resistance.
