Mega Evolution was a fine concept.
"For pokemon whose designs are finished or a bit too strong to be justified a full evolution, we can give them a form beyond that's a bit above the curve at the cost of an item slot."
IE: Mawile, Sabyleye, Pidgeot, Beedrill, Glailie, Ampharos, even to an extent Gardevoir/Gallade.
The issue was in the execution where starters, PSEUDO-LEGENDARIES, AND FULL FUCKING LEGENDARIES got Megas.

It's simply GF pandering to kids. There is no more discussion to be had other than that. They only wanted to pander to kids because kids love legendaries and they love lucario and thats where the money and franchising is. GF is putting their heart and soul to pander to the kids. Every other demographic besides the genwunners justs gets half assed.

I showed my nephew my pokemon Y and he was only interested in my legendaries. My massive 20+ boxes of breedjects confused the poor kid.

What? It was one of the best and most used Pokemon in the game, soaked Dracos, ignored Intimidates and hit back hard as fuck.

Though gen 6 fucked it hard with the steel and Meteor Mash nerf. God, I hate what GF did that gen, literally ruined my favorite pokemon forever. Even its mega is bad.

That's because ice types are so fucking shit. Just add some good ice types. The only option to deal with dragons is to have another dragon, because the dragon weakness was the only workable solution to enemy dragons. Having fucking froslass on your team wasn't a workable solution.

they didn't need to add a new type to deal with the dragon problem, they just needed to work with the types they already had.
