A stat realignment would do wonders for both Poliwrath and Politoed. Right now they're both far too average stat wise for either to really shine, with the both of them hardly having any inclination to physical or special.
Doesn't help that Poliwrath lacks a good Fighting type stab too.

I believe there was a cut sprite in the Red/Green/Blue game files of a Poliwrath wearing a crown, or King's Rock as it would later be called. Politoed was probably one of the unfinished Gen 1 mons that was later made for Gen 2.
