I don't play Pokemon competitively and don't know much about the Meta, but are Grass-Type Pokemon worthless? It really seems that way.
>>30810793
It's not worthless. It's often a drawback, but grass types can and do succeed competitively. They've got some notable strengths including: immunity to spore moves, wide distribution of spore moves and leech seed.
>>30810871
What are some good Grass-Types?
>>30810793
There's some noteworthy grass types. This fucker was wrecking shit last gen for example.
Most grass types end up being terrible but the best I can think of are ferrothorn, mega venusaur, amoonguss, tangrowth, Serperior and kinda breloon
>>30810793
Breloom would like to have a word with you.
>>30810898
Tyranitar
>>30811062
Newfag here, I don't get it.
>>30810898
mega venusaur
breloom
amoonguss
>>30811089
>amoongus
>poison
K
Stupid retart who knows shite about pokemons detected
>>30811044
>>30811089
Doesn't Breloom have a x4 Weakness to Fighting in addition to all of the Fighting and Grass Weaknesses?
They're defensively the most susceptible to super effectiveness, tied with something else. And the things they are strong against are often shared with other commonly used types.
>>30810793
In 6th gen Amoonguss, Breloom, Ferrothorn, Serperior, Tangrowth, and M-Venusuar we're all OU. And gen 7 gave us Kartana and Tapu Bulu.
Grass is not the best but it's doing fine.
>>30811089
Ferrothorn
Tangrowth
Celebi
Shaymin
And now Bulu and Kartana
Mostly Ferrothorn though.
>>30811102
It's still part grass type tho
>>30811079
Because tyrannitar is green, but not a grass type
>>30811158
Their resistances are common too though. There's a reason fwg is still a solid core.
>>30810793
Venusaur is OU in Gen 5 without needing a mega while Charizard is in NU.
>>30811134
4x Flying weakness, and who cares. Pokemon have weaknesses.
>>30811134
Learn to Pokemon.
>>30811278
>>30811170
I don't know what that means. I know nothing about the Meta.
Okay people let's not confuse "good BECAUSE they are a grass type" with "good IN SPITE of being grass type"
Tapu bulu is good IN SPITE of being grass type because it has a fucking auto terrain ability, it would make any typing OU.
Mega Venusaur is good IN SPITE of being grass type, as it has very good stats/movepool/ability
Just like when people say gengar makes the poison type good, even though the poison typing only makes gengar worse
>>30811344
OU = over used
Basically, it means they were used a lot and are the best of the best.
>>30811344
Can't you read the context? I hope you can understand "Grass is not the best but it's doing fine", and if you can it should be fairly obvious that the trait of being OU is something desirable.
>>30811384
Thanks.
>>30811393
OU being something desirable is not enough context. I got the "Grass is not the best but it's doing fine."
>>30811370
You're thinking too small. Grass is important for defensive core building and part of the most popular core in the game. Steel/fairy/dragon is its only real competition.
>>30811370
I think Gengar switched into genuinely benefiting from it's typing in Gen 6. Before that it was useless, and with the removal of Levitate it might be actively detrimental. Right now, it's probably only being used because its a fairy killer, if you wanted psychic killer you'd use something else.
>>30810898
>OU functional:
M-Venusaur, Celebi, Breloom, Tangrowth, Rotom-M, Serperior, Amoongus, Ferrothorn, Chesnaught, Tapu Bulu, Kartana
>viable if you know how to use it:
Jumpluff, Whimsicott (jumpluff 2.0), M-Sceptile, Ludicolo, Roserade, Obama, Shaymin, Liligant, Virizion, Trevenant, Decidueye, Tsareena, Dhelmise.
Grass is doing fine since bird got nerf. Immunity to powder, leech seed, and often access to those move gives the player options to set up. Grass defensive core is actually pretty strong and possibly one of the strongest in game. Grass does have good offense though, despite their current best trait in defense.
>>30811622
>Obama
>>30810793
No
Ice type is the worthless type
Grass is a good defensive type despite all the weaknesses. It has some key resistances. FWG (fire, water, grass) core is a thing for a reason.
>>30811724
Isn't putting Ice Beam on Water Pokemon a good thing?
>>30811728
How are Steel Pokemon currently?
>>30811690
Took me too long to figure out what that meant, I forget its even Grass type.
>>30811791
Steel is currently the best typing by far.
>>30811791
Amazing as always
>>30811758
ice is a good move type
It's a horrible type for a pokemon to be
>>30811808
>>30811811
Huh, I've always liked Steel. Good to know it's really good.
>>30810793
You think that's bad? Try being an Ice type enthusiast and watch how fragile and crap most of them are
>>30812016
>the only OU ice types in gen 6 were Weavile and Kyurum-B
>both dropped to UU in gen 7
It hurts.
>>30811102
You called out Amoonguss but you didn't call out Venusaur?
>>30812710
>Because 151 is best lololl XDDDD
I agree though, why didn't you call out Penisore
>>30811808
It's Fairy actually.
