I'm at my 160 chain with shiny charm right now and the Smeargles don't feel like changing colors. I've encountered zero shinies and it annoys me.

The odds of finding a shiny via chain+charm are something like 1 in 600, and this is only after 70 calls, and it overflows to zero after 255. On average it should take you much longer, OP just got really lucky.

Congrats on your Shiny Rilou.

As a shiny-hunter myself, I can tell you MM is 1/512 and SOS chaining varies from 1/1024to 1/512

The thing is, you get that 1/512 chance at 70-255 chain. Once you go over 255 chain, the 8bit counter resets and you have to chain 70 more pokes to get that 1/512 chance.

these numbers are with shiny charm.

My rates so far:
438 Chain - Gyarados
18 Chain - Eevee
10 eggs - MM- Rowlett
184 Chain - Sandygast
123 eggs - MM - Wimpod
63 eggs - MM Wimpod (was hatching excess from my prior Wimpod)
437 Chain - Smeargle

You can also abuse an rng quirk for eggs as shown in my image.

0 through SOS and I've sunk enough time into SOSes.

2 through MM.
