I just finished the league and am pretty new to the competitive side of Pokemon. I'm trying to farm BPs for the breeding items but I'm unsure if my team is strong enough for it.
If I catch the UBs to use them in the Tree, will I have to EV train them first? If so, is it a better idea to wait until I have all the EV items and Pokerus?

Yes they will need EVs for the Battle Tree, no you don't need to wait for all that. First pick your 3 mons you want to use (with correct natures) and then just send them to Islevelup in Poke Pelago. With Pokebean boosts it will take about 15 hours per stat to be maxed, but it's well worth in my opinion because you can go do other things while the isle does the work for you. Once you have those three then go farm BP for the EV items and use those in tandem with pokerus (Pokerus is given out for free in here usually).

You can do Battle Royale to get BP as well. Your in-game team should be enough to up to Super in Battle Tree.

I would recommend saving the UBs until you have Synchronizers (Abra/Umbreon/Espeon) with the proper natures.

Don't forget you can stick up to 3 groups of 6 into the Pokepelago EV training island.
