Why are they always fucking up Gligars colors? Has this happened

When I first found a Paras in gen 6 I thought it was a shiny because its model looked so different from its sprites

Im playing Platinum right now and I got so excited. Thought it was a shiny Gligar and that I missed the sparkle or something while not paying attention.

Was quite disappointed when I caught it

It's because Gligar was half assed in DP and like a lot of other mons the sprites were too static and didn't lend themselves to animation because they weren't created for that purpose. HG/SS got sprites and color palettes to match the aesthetic more closely of the main mons.

Plus in Platinum's case, what else did the artists have to work on? The distortion world, the battle frontier, a few gyms, updating a few tile sets like usual, and that's it. A lot less than an entire game's worth of assets.

I would say that it might be because Gligar is different colors in different regions like how Arbok has different patterns in the first three Gens.

But then I noticed that Diamond/Pearl and Platinum have different colored Gligar and now I don't even know. Winter colors maybe?

Gen 3 was way more awkward with sprites. Gen 2 is even more awkawrd, it really is amazing how many sprites underwent changes between the Japanese Gold/Silver to the English Gold/Silver and then Crystal. Spinarak, Girafarig, and Raikou are good examples.

Gengar's official coloration seems to be "some shade of purple". He's been depicted as so many colors that this is what his google image results look like.

Gen 3's Igglybuff was this fleshy peach color instead of pink, like everywhere else. And in Gen 6 he suddenly got paler.

Notice Dugtrio's Sugimori art compared to Alolan Dugtrio's. In the games they're exactly the same color just with different dirt and hair.

I don't know how this even happened compared to the official art but I liked it, I wish it was its shiny.

Also, not a color thing, but I liked the white mask pattern on furret's face in its gen 2 sprites too.

Check this out. Every game prior to Black and White had Hoppip taking on a similar color as you see on the top, and then it suddenly turned pink instead of red.

Also his leaves got a lot longer in HGSS, at least when it comes to sprites
