Animals canonically exist in the pokemon universe.
What purpose do they serve? How do they survive with pokemon being super powerful predators?
>>30789998
>I'll take early installment weirdness for 500, Alex
It's like how Lt.Surge was called the Lightning American in Gen 1.
>>30789998
There's literally no where that Pokemon have been seen eating meat. It's always some weird Vegan shit.
They're not predators, Pokemon just battle each other and eat berries.
>>30790032
And in every remake. Also, animals are still referenced in game.
>>30790033
They eat each other a lot according to the pokedex.
>>30790033
>They're not predators, Pokemon just battle each other and eat berries.
The Alola dex in particular has a lot of references to Pokemon eating other Pokemon. They really played up the predatory aspect of Pokemon this gen.
>>30790032
>tfw retconned to Lightning Unovan
>>30790103
Actually, this is brought up in BW2
>Guy in World Tournament building: Lt. Surge! He used to be a soldier and acts as the Gym Leader of Vermilion City. Is he from the Unova region?
>Announcer in PWT: The lightning American, Lt. Surge! Bring it ooon!
So in BW2, it's questioned whether or not Surge is from Unova, but he's still called an American.
Since Oak says in DP that Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh are all one country, it's likely that America does exist in the Pokemon world, and Unova is just one part of it.
They've been retconned by omission.

There's implications but nothing that specifically says "THIS POKEMON FEASTS ON THIS POKEMON"
That's a Kantonian Rockruff.
>>30790828
Yes there is
>Talonflame: Its favorite foods are Wingull and Pikipek. It attacks with a powerful kick and grasps them firmly in its talons.
>Lucario: They can detect the species of a living being—and its emotions—from over half a mile away. They control auras and hunt their prey in packs.
>Lumineon: This deep-sea Pokémon lives at the bottom of the sea. Its fins haul it over the seabed in search of its favorite food—Starmie.
>Mareanie: It's found crawling on beaches and seafloors. The coral that grows on Corsola's head is as good as a five-star banquet to this Pokémon.
etc.
Pokemon eating each other is canon. They don't even imply it, they flat-out state it.
>>30790032
>implying
>>30790934
Prior to sun and moon, real animals was never mentioned. From the best wishes to xy.
We know from its dex entry that sylveon hunts, but what does it eat?
>>30790091
Plus, YOU can eat meat in S&M, which most assuredly came from a Pokemon.
>>30790934
male blaziken (and any other chicken like pokemon) are roosters
rooster is a term for a male chicken not a species
>>30791011
berries, obviously
>>30791062
No they're not. They're Blaziken. Not roosters.
>>30791011
dragons
>>30790828
The game practically screams at you that Mareanie eat corsola, to the point that mareanie called by a corsola will actually attack the corsola.
>>30789998
>Gen 1 anime promo art background shit as my proof
>>30791062
does blaziken's head look like tapu koko's to you?
>>30791011
Boipucci
>>30790828
You know, if you ignore all the parts that directly say they eat, kill, or maim each other
>>30791076
there are multiple breeds of domestic chicken, and different species, and in all of them the males are referred to as roosters, a pokemon fitting the description would also be able to be referred to as a rooster
>Tfw if Pokémon were real I'd likely spend all day relaxing by the sea spear gunning mearenie that endanger the corsola reefs and feed the remains to your lumineon
>>30791168
No. It would just be called a Blaziken. Pokemon aren't animals and aren't classified the same way as animals.
>>30791115
no but combusken kinda does, and honestlythe anime is design for very young children, not every kid knows every pokemon but almost everyone has at least seen a picture of a chicken
No different than plants existing in the Pokemon world.
>>30791194
Stfu richard.
Pikachu: The mouse pokemon.
>>30791233
yes which is why animals clearly exist in pokemon.
>>30791264
>Blaziken: The Blaze Pokémon
???
>>30791194
they fit every single scientific requirement to be classified as animals, even grass types so they are animals, albeit strange and alien
>>30791246
Plants can't think.
They're background noise as far as life is concerned.
>>30791267
yes and pokemon are animals
>>30789998
normal type dog mon
>>30791293
Its called a fucking rooster in Japan. You god damned autism fag queen bastard child.
pokemon=animals
same as humans=animal
>>30791342
No, Blaziken is called the "Raging Flames Pokemon" in Japanese.
>Chick
>Young Fowl (Chicken)
>Blaze (Raging Flames
>>30791293
Jap dex>Eng dex
>>30791422
Are humans pokemon?
>>30791524
They used to be according to a book in Canalave Library, but aren't anymore.
>>30790889
And sableye is implied to eat carbink since they attack them when you SOS
>>30791313
Plants can't think in the traditional sense. Trees will share their resources to those that aren't doing so hot via an underground root system. In a dying forest trees will send the last of their resources to the new guys who are likely to survive. It's neat shit.
>>30791524
I think that our perception of what Pokemon are are a construct within the Pokemon world. Look at the origins of Pokemon like Clefairy, Ultra Beasts, Legendary Pokemon, and man-made Pokemon. At a certain point, a Pokemon is simply a creature that posses relatively great power. and can be caught and trained. By that standard, humans are definitely not Pokemon, especially since they had a war against pokemon.
>>30791496
A male chicken is a fucking rooster. It even has rooster elements.
