Yea that's the point gamefreak seems to make two kind of pokemons. Story mode pokes and online pokes, good luck using the team you build and train in your main run they are useless now that you are done with that. Now to have a chance in battle tree or online your are pretty much force to use pokes that you may or may not love because they are the only things that stand a chance out there.

Then she can fill a niche in OU setting Sticky Web, getting it magic bounced and then switching back in getting a speed boost and then spamming defog on the magic bouncer for free evasion boosts.
