Tell me why they need to replace Talonflame with another annoying

Talonflame was at least cool. I want to stab this ugly thing 85 times.

I always used Lanturn to deal with Smogonbird. Now that Pelliper's become the new Smogonbird things are even easier now since it's slower and has a x4 weakness, plus the free rain gives Lanturn 100% accuracy Thunders and boosted Scalds. Of course, all of this also benefits everybody's favorite washing machine.

Pelipper is a great example of game freak fixing a shitty pokemon and making it viable but not op.

All 6 moves in its competitive set were added in later gens, it's ability is a great fit for it, and pelipper was given a spA boost this gen as well.

Now if only game freak overhauled more pokemon like that rather than slapping megas on everything the game would probably be a lot better.

It isn't that good. It's flawed, it's NU. You're better off using Rotom-W most of the time.
I use it because I'm a filthy Karenfag, but it does have just enough to make it usable in higher tiers. Its typing gives it the resistances Rotom-W is known for and its movepool has interesting stuff to work with like Heal Bell and Scald. It doesn't get Levitate, but in exchange it can wall most Electric Pokemon quite easily, notably Mega Manectric.

Lanturn actually did have a niche role in the Smogon OU viability thread pre-ORAS, it eventually dropped off after that. At the very least, in the current pre-bank environment where Rotom-W does not exist it could easily fill that niche in the meantime, though it doesn't get Heal Bell due to no tutors
