Ballio's concept was interesting but the design itself was ugly. Primarina evolves into a feminine mermaid because mermaids are more recognizable/famous than mermen.

A seal based stater would never have a good fin stage design to begin with, real or fake.

You pretty much described about 40% of all pokemon designs, though. Many of them have a sticker-looking kind of mouth in the side of their snout.

I'd rather not. The pup's cute, as well as Brionne, but its evos don't interest me at all theme wise and unlike the other types, Water type is the type that has the most mons out there and the one I have the least trouble ditching the starter for something else.

I'd much rather Mareanie and Toxapex than the entire Popplio line for instance, but that's only because it's a design I found myself liking more. Pretty sure I'm not the only one here. Besides, if I wanted a Water/Fairy, I'd just pick me up a Marill, who I already had grown fond long ago and is still a big favorite of mine.
