The biggest problem for me is that the two pokemon introduced that are location based evolutions are available at the start of the game and only evolve at the end of the game. Who the fuck would keep crabrawler around till the elite 4 and then once he evolves he's garbage against all the e4.

Charjabug I could handle. Around the time you pick up the Eviolite he's not yet being outclassed, and fortunately he's got a decent moveset. I never really felt like Charjabug fell too far behind like Crabrawler did, but then again Charjabug evolved before the final trial.

I think the biggest disappointment was either Solgaleo, or Vikavolt.
Vikavolt looked like it might be the first route 1 bugro to actually be good for reasons beyond Sleep Powder+Quiverdance lmao. Instead we wound up with a shitter that doesn't even evolve until the very end of the game, is pathetically slow and frail, and is entirely outclassed by Xurkitree in everything. And it's stat 180 means that when your Charjabug bro finally evolves, its entire movepool is worthless and it generally gets almost no special moves.

Solgaleo is just weak. I kinda assumed its typing wouldn't be the greatest, but I just wasn't expecting so much wasted potential on one Pokemon. It's stat spread is retarded, it's ability is retarded, its signature move is retarded, the whole thing is just stupid.
