Same thing happened to me OP, I wish the mic was still allowed to be used in game when trading, then maybe you could help. Name a Pokémon your FC and maybe they'll do the same, then you can message each other?

The best thing you can do is keep requesting a trade with them, or a battle and lead with that Pokémon named your FC, next Pokémon says "add me," etc
