How do we fix fossils? Would primal revisions replacing or removing

Rather than Primal Reversion, it'd be neat if there was an area in one region where Fossil Pokemon survived underground or something, and were essentially regional variants.

Is it possible to get the fossil you didn't choose in Olivia's shop?

The remove rock typing is a shitty headcanon.

Aerodactyl becomes true aerodactyl by mega evolving, when he does so he becomes even more rock type by growing stone spikes and becoming more feral.

The rock type isn't there for being a revived fossil, in aerodactyl case being rock is his deal.

Aerodactyl set the precedent of shitting on the removed rock type headcanon.

Kabutops and Omastar have thick shells made of stone.

Aerodactyl has stony skin and grows granite spikes upon mega evolution.

Cradily is based on a crinoid or sea lily, they make their homes in rocks.

Rampardos has an obvious stony hide like Aerodactyl, and its spikes may also be some form of rock.

Armaldo, like Kabutops has a hard stone-like shell, but should be Bug/Water because it's basically a monstrous aquatic arthropod.

Carracosta, like Blastoise has a hard shell, but Carracosta's is less organic looking, so it's safe to assume that Carracosta's shell is rock.

Archeops makes no sense as a Rock-type. It's a pre-historic bird, and probably should be Normal/Flying like its modern relatives or Dragon/Flying to go with its more reptilian appearance.

Tyrantrum doesn't have any obvious rock features, but its crown, frill, and thick scales may be rocks instead of organic scales.

Aurorus should be Dragon/Ice, it has no apparent rock-like features beyond the crystals on its body, which are made of ice.

So... yeah, most of them deserve their rock-typing. There are some exceptions though.

Why do people assume Rock-typing means that it's literally made of rock?
When it isn't describing literal animate rocks, it often is an abstraction for hard scales, any kind of prominent or developed bones or mineral deposits.

They're mostly appropriately Rock type, as the typing is an abstraction for reptilian scales, shells and bones. Some of them could get alternate typings, but that's only a few at best.


Though, sometimes it's pretty arbitrary, see Lucario's thumb spikes making it part Steel instead of part Rock.
Counterintuitively, sometimes it actually makes some sense Nihilego is supposed to be made of glass.
