Stars will be Switch exclusive.

Diamond/Pearl remakes will be for 3DS.

Platinum will be Switch.

They will continue to do this until they need comfortable phasing out the 3DS.

Honestly this. I love my 3DS and it's given me countless hours of fun in games like MH, EO, Pokemon, Rune Factory, etc etc, but its time is over and it needs to go and let a more capable handheld take its place. The Switch shows a lot of promise and I welcome it with open arms.
