I got the game the day after release and I'm still on the third island my friend got it 5 days after me and already beat it. To be fair I stop every now and then and level up pokemon I may want to use later up or go back and explore whatever I can and try and catch one of each pokemon

I'm at 20 hours and just catching shit at Brooklet Hill right now. Trying to soft-rest for good natured Psyduck's and Morelull's.
This is my second playthrough, though. I wanted to play the game again after spending some time dicking around in the post-game.

That was probably about the pace I played the game, fucked around hunted a few low spawn rate mons talked to most ppl etc. I will probably play through again at some point. Maybe if/when pokebank opens up for these games.

I am. I usually burn through these games quickly but im enjoying the scenery and taking my time. I also dont wanna go through more cut-scenes and im relishing just walking around and not being told what to do
