>using Masuda method + shiny charm makes shiny hatching odds 1 in 341

So shinies aren't really worth a fuck anymore, are they?
>>
they never were
>>
>>30604263
They haven't been worth anything the moment we learned about the Masuda Method years ago.

The only shinies that have any value are the ones you encounter randomly without meaning to.
>>
>>30604263
You can hack them all, they've never been worth anything
>>
>>30604295
I haven't played Pokemon since gen 4 so this Masuda method thing is new to me
And apparently in gen 6 they halved shiny odds for no good reason other than to make them even less special
>>
>>30604365
1/8000 odds was pretty fucking insane

they were only special because of how retardedly rare they were, most of them were just hacked anyways

wasn't it 1/500something in gen 6, why is it 341 now?
>>
>>30604295
>The only shinies that have any value are the ones you encounter randomly without meaning to.

This, I guess. Though having 1 in 8196 chance like back in gen 3 and 4 sure is more special than 1 in 2048 now that I have the charm in Moon
>>
>>30604483
Method is 6/4092 = 1/682
Charm doubles odds, so 2/682 = 1/341
>>
>tfw still have my the shiny carvanha (now a sharpedo) that I caught in ruby like 12 years ago while looking for feebas

I got a shit tone of shinies from XY and already a few in SM but that Sharpedo is the only one I give a crap about. 1/8192 odds randomly as a kid with no idea what shinies were.
>>
>>30604483
Who cares what the number is? It didn't change from Gen 6, so it doesn't matter if OP got the number wrong. The argument is still the same.
>>
>>30604441
the source of the odds OP posted you retard.
>>
>>30604902
>>30604581
>>
>>30604263
They haven't been worth a fuck ever since you could inject them into the game.

If I gave you a properly hacked in shiny you wouldn't be able to tell the fuckin difference between it and a legit one.
>>
>>30604945
We're talking about legit shinies here. No one cares if you have an instant-win button.
>>
>>30604263
masuda method with shiny charm odds are about 1/512. where the fuck are you pulling 1/341 from?
>>
Back in my day shinys meant something
>>
>>30605046
that's what i'm trying to understand
>>
>>30604581
>1/341

if you think that shinies aren't worth anything then spend a few hours hatching eggs and see how you feel

it's still painfully prohibitive
>>
>>30605046
>>30605150
In Generation IV, the game tries four extra personality values (resulting in approximately five times the probability of receiving a Shiny Pokémon, or 5/8192). In Generation V the game instead makes five extra attempts (resulting in six times the probability, or 6/8192).[2] Generation VI appears to work the same as Generation V (generating a probability of 6/4096 due to Generation VI's increased Shiny odds).
>>
>>30604263
It has whatever value you put into it. If you think the effort you put forth to get a shiny makes it valuable, then it is (to you).

It's still just data on a screen no matter what, so don't sperg out on "muh value".
>>
>>30605204
That math comes out to about 1/680
>>
>>30605204
and then the shiny charm adds 2 extra chances, so we get 8/4096 which comes out to 1/512.
>>
>>30605232
Damn, I never thought of it like that before. You opened my eyes to a whole new plane of thinking.
>>
>>30604584
This. I still adore my precious shiny Camerupt and Crobat from gen 3.
>>
>>30604581
Charm doesn't double odds. It adds +2 Shiny checks.
Masuda Method adds +5 shiny checks.

Without the charm, when you do the Masuda Method, the game rolls 6 times to see if you get a shiny, which is roughly 1/683 (a little off, because of binomial prob)

With the charm, when you do the Masuda Method, the game rolls 8 times to see if you get a shiny, which is roughly a 1/512 chance

Don't believe any of this has changed in Gen 7
>>
>>30604914
nice wrong calcs you faggot.
>>
>>30604263
Random encounter shinies are still the best.

(((((working))))) for shinies with masuda method and charm just doesn't have the same novelty as finding one randomly, how ever rare that may be.
>>
Masuda method has been a thing since gen 4, making shinies be 1/8k is retarded and insane, just promotes hacking.

If you think 1/512 is super low go talk to shiny hunt weekend or do it yourself.

Then tell us how low it is after 25 boxes of non shinies
