Then we look at the actual candidates. 1250000/29700 = 42.08.

42.08*44.5 hours gets us to around 1872 hours, actually more but i'll round down. that means then we have 78 days to grind up a lvl 1 mon, assuming I immediately put the bagon on a new grinding program as soon as it finishes.

Honestly, I think they made breeding so tricky on purpose as their way of making sure people doing it know what they're doing. It certainly could be streamlined, but I always got the impression that making it too streamlined would cause the meta to stagnate because everyone would have cookiecutter sets with perfect IVs and ideal natures on all their Pokemon even without hacking. That, and I enjoy the challenge of fighting handicapped, so to speak- I know I have a good chance of losing, but it makes the wins all the more enjoyable.

Far from improving the meta, simplifying breeding would probably make it even worse than before. But on the bright side, at least it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

If you catch or breed a mon through in game means and use those items on that specific Pokémon, you're not a cheater in the sense that your Pokémon is not inherently hacked itself.

I got banned from my first tourney attempted because I had five masterballs, which was over the legal three, so they banned me because I had been "cheating". I had no gameshark or action replay at that point, and in fact I had been repeatedly been playing Sapphire over and over to transfer masterballs with my starters purposefully to catch the legendaries in Pearl and Diamond. Ironically one of my first GTS mons was also Lopunny caught on Route 2 at level 100 that was also holding a Masterball, so there was one there too.

I was fairly butthurt over being banned, and I was traded a Shaymin that someone at that same event had hacked, cloned, and given me. About a week later bought myself an Action Replay out of spite.

I may not have started my tourney journey that day (or ever), but within a month my PC was drowning in shinies, and I caught myself all the legendaries available, mostly on illegal routes. It was a glorious time.

I enjoy a blend of legit and injecting nowadays depending on my mood, but I try to keep one clean copy of the current gen games in case I ever try a local event again. No extra items, no injected-from-scratch Pokemon. Just good "clean" fun.
