Acually no. The Pokemon League in Alola was just started so everyone wants to be part of that. You will find people you already met training and trying to leave a mark on it just like you as MC, and of course as the future champion.

Its like the story every before YOU as MC on elder games when the E4 and Champions already had their stories and adventures. Maybe there aren't friends at all, maybe there were simple rivals.

But this time is different because we are the start of it with other trainers, just like the previous E4 and Champions when they were simple trainers with dreams like us now.

Maybe we (MC and the E4) are not really really strong but we are the challenge before the trainers dreams to become a champion. We are on the opposite site this time.

And that is the beautiful part of all of this.

I started with her. Then I went to Acerola and, well, guess I didn't battle her, but since she mentioned she was taking Nanu's place I kinda expected Olivia and Hala to be next.

Which left me thinking, why the fuck is Kahili an E4 then? where's Hapu or her replacement? Especially since Mina didn't do anything in-story and is from the same fucking island.

Also, while I loved Kukui as a 'champion', maybe Kahili being the first champion right before you would be better. She's a literally who that was hinted on the Hano ingame and nothing else, so it'd strangely fit if she beat you to it, then lose it at the first defence ala Blue.
