its special defense is paper thin and its quad weak to a common offensive typing (fire) which while thematically appropriate means many things can kill it in one hit.

also its move pool is surprisingly low powered, the strongest STAB move it gets is leaf blade iirc. most other attacks it learns average about 70 base power

A shame that Smart Strike is only 70 power. You'd think Gamefreak would have invented a Steel-typed "slicing" move or something for Pokemon whose designs involve blades. Smart Strike kinda works, but specifically mentions using a horn.

I hate its design. Completely turns me off using it.

A paper origami sword person thing had the potential to look amazing. Keep the design simple, graceful, elegant, give it some cool animations that involve smoth moves, folding and unfolding, loop-de-loops, etc.

Instead we got ugly floaty paper thing. The design is just far too busy, so many sharp edges and angles make it look ugly.
