I'm getting a New 3DS soon.
Should I start with X/Y AS/OR or just go straight for S/M?
Please do yourself and your wallet a favor, and never ever buy XY/ORAS.
There is literally no reason to buy or even play XY/ORAS now that SM are out.

get Sun/Moon.
I really wouldn't recommend gen 6 at all. X/Y is honestly just bad, and Graphics aside, Emerald is better than ORAS

Wait to see if the rumor about the Switch port is true.
Also in general I think there's no reason to buy a 3DS now that it's dying.
If you still insist, unless you really liked RSE, just go for SM.

Get 6 n3ds and play them all at the same time

Oras for Move Tutors. SM for Meta
Thanks for the advice, I will probably skip X/Y.

I really liked Ruby back in the day but never played Emerald. Does AS/OR really not improve on anything but graphics?

>Graphcis aside
- No fairy
- Pre special/physical split
- Slow PC boxes
I'm not trying to defend ORAS (They were disappointments) but take off your nostalgia goggles. Gen 3 was pretty bleh.

This. I've actually been playing ORAS just to build mons using move tutors because SM got rid of them for no reason. Move tutors were 100% of the reason for making shitmons even somewhat usable.

Gen 3 was okay. It was no G/S, which essentially had 2 campaigns. But then G/S hadshit mons. And R/S hadthe best music

>They were disappointments
How so?

>no battle frontier

I didn't even like Gen3, I was just thinking more from a content point of view. also, I'm pretty sure it was post special/physical split in Emerald, but not Ruby and Sapphire.
to further add, I legitimately forgot that fairy type even existed. You can keep it as something that ORAS had over Emerald, but that just shows how little I valued it.
