Whenever a Smash game comes out, a Pokemon from the latest generation always gets in. The only times it didn't happen are Gen 3 and 5, because they came in between (4 and 6 were fresh by the time the next Smash came out)

Greninja wasn't even that popular when he was revealed. Tons of people were going "literally who". He was a cool starter but the anime Greninja pandering hadn't happened yet so it was still just a case of "hey lets put a Pokemon from the current gen in"

The point stands, if the next Smash games come out before Gen 8 then Decidueye is gonna be the one to get in

It's literally just my mom's owl with a Robin Hood motif, with everything appropriate that goes with it (ie a hood, bow and arrow motif, etc.)

2 of them are clones and 1 isn't likely to return in the next game and the other is only about a 70% chance. If you added Decidue that'd still only be 3-4 archers compare to the like 10 swordsman or the fistfighters who make up half the cast.
